Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, such as tendons and fascia. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger, elbow, forearm or knuckle pressure on the contracted areas. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue, and focuses on more specific areas. It is common to feel some pain during treatment and soreness to last up to 2-3 days.
Why get a Deep Tissue Massage?
Those suffering from repetitive strain injuries and certain conditions may find deep tissue massage to be quite therapeutic. This technique would be beneficial to conditions such as: Tendonitis (chronic), adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder), carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle cramping and any injury with accompanying acute inflammatory response, or after repetitive stress to soft tissue causing adhesions and scar tissue to develop. Because many toxins are released, it's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.
