Burnaby Registered Massage Therapist ~ Natalie

Registered Massage Therapist ~ NatalieOriginally I was born in Wakefield, England and was raised in the lower mainland. I grew up with a passion for dance and sports. Coming from a background of working in a transmission/ automotive shop, and making a shift from the complexity of gears; I knew my love of people and my inquisitive nature would bring me to new endeavors.  With health and wellness in my life I was inspired by the massage therapy profession.

While moving towards my registration I worked at Milica Salon Spa. As I enjoyed working with the ladies and the clientele, I acquired more skills for pampering and relaxation. Although it was an amazing facility my main interest was more of an orthopedics and sport mindset. I began working at Orion Health in 2006 and have gained much experience treating a variety of medical conditions, such as frozen shoulder, post operative knee surgery, whiplash associated disorders, tendonitis, and many more. The modalities I use most are deep tissue and myofascial massage as well as active release therapy, trigger point release, joint mobilizations and muscle energy techniques. The direction of my treatments, are to sculpt the muscles and surrounding fascia which create postural balance and ease with dynamic movements of everyday life.

Every two years RMT’s are required to upgrade their skills by taking accredited courses through the massage therapy association. This past cycle I focused on postural alignment through Anatomy Trains, taught by Mark Finch. I find using the integrated approach of myofascial release and traditional massage techniques help guide and propel one through their journey to great health and well being.

Being in the massage therapy profession I feel humbled and truly blessed.  As I continue to learn and grow, in this exciting field of health and wellness, I am committed to developing my skills through knowledge from science while maintaining a connectedness with the spiritual realm of life.

ACUPUNCTURE & ORIENTAL MEDICINE
“ The Natural Solution for Your Body “

Registered Acupuncturist and TCM Practitioner, Yeong Ran C. Kim

Yeong Ran C. KimEver since I was a University student, I volunteered as the First-Aid attendant for various camps for secondary students, which I sometimes found to be even more interesting than my major subject, mathematics. After graduation, I wanted to continue studying, and when opportunity presented itself, I quit my job as a secondary school math teacher and enrolled in four-year Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) program at Pacific Coast University of Holistic Medicine. It was a very complicated program, as the lectures were in Korean and English, and the textbooks mostly in Chinese. This complication, however, enabled me to look for and read numerous texts written by eminent doctors from all over the world before and after my graduation, allowing me to learn hundreds of cures for diseases in a short period of time, which came into use in my clinical practices. However, I improved my acupunctural skills the most during my medical missionary trip to Ecuador right after graduating the acupuncture program, where my team treated hundreds of patients, some with chronic diseases and others with diseases that are rarely found in Canada. This trip was both experience-enriching and eye-opening. After returning to Canada, I enrolled in the Doctor of TCM program to acquire more in-depth knowledge of TCM, where I learned under Dr. Cheng Zhao Zhi (who has over 40 years of practical experiences in the field) various cautionary details of using herbs, and the ways to come up with the right and effective herb combinations via studying ancient texts. Afterwards, I worked under Dr. Hun Park who has 37 years of medical experience, learning special acupuncture techniques originated from Korea and clinical skills for curing diseases.

So far, I have had various experiences, including controlling diabetes, acid reflux, infertility and hypothyroidism. I am now studying and looking for ways to cure the aftereffects of several chronic diseases as well as some diseases that cannot be cured by the Western medicine.

Dr Ron Asks some important questions of interest to Burnaby residents - Chiropractor Burnaby Dr Ron Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Why do so many drugs require a prescription?
Because they can be dangerous? I chose a chiropractic career specifically because it avoids artificial means of pain relief. Our Burnaby chiropractic practice attracts health-conscious families that prefer a safe and natural solution. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
